GitLab.com only documentation
Will this issue help with the larger concern of getting GitLab.com specific help as opposed to getting self-managed help mixed in? Users researching topics for GitLab.com have a hard time understanding some instructions provided to them because often times the docs refer to Admin area pages they will not have access to.
For example, searching User Administration provides these instructions even though GitLab.com is selected:
Also, if the intent of the selector is to solely choose the edition installed on GitLab.com, shouldn't
Gitlab.com
be removed as a choice? My customers (and I) find that confusing. Perhaps adding those words as part of the description could help eliminate some of that. E.g. "Choose GitLab.com version:"
I completely echo Dave's comments - For people new to GitLab.com this selector is super confusing - the assumption would be (and this is what I see my customers/prospects assume) you only get results applicable for the SaaS version but that is not the case. Dave touched on just one area - user management but in similar way if one looks for K8S integration you also get feedback for instance level integration. Or if you search for LDAP you get all the detail on LDAP integration - which is not available for gitlab.com It would be tremendously helpful if there is a way to filter the search results so only data applicable to SaaS will be shown when the selector is set to gitlab.com
