Track release info of GDK version in telemetry
What does this merge request do and why?
Track release info of GDK version in telemetry
This adds a release property to the telemetry payload, which contains
the date of the HEAD commit in GDK and the short SHA of said commit.
This allows us to track the version adoption. It also helps us discover
if there is a telemetry anomaly (e.g. due to a bug causing an excessive
number of events being sent) or if a certain version broke a certain
feature.
Closes #2986 (closed)
