Master design file names
Background
Originally there was one Sketch file that housed everything from symbols and layer styles to components and patterns. Due to issues when copy/pasting from the master file to a new file (symbols unlinked from the library and created local instances), a second instance sheet file was created that has correct library links and can be reliably used as a place to copy from.
Opportunity
Reconsider the current file naming to be as clear as possible as to what the file contains.
Current
-
gitlab-pattern-library.sketch
infers a library of patterns, but it’s only the base elements. -
gitlab-instance-sheet.sketch
isn’t clear as to instances of what, and it isn’t in a typical sheet or style tile format.
Proposed
By way of example…
-
gitlab-elements.sketch
orgitlab-ui-globals.sketch
to infer the most basic, common denominators. -
gitlab-components.sketch
orgitlab-ui-library
to infer building blocks.
This pattern could also be extended for something like gitlab-illustration.sketch
, etc.
