(Pilot) CI/CD & Create UX: Personal Growth Day

Context

On gitlab-com/www-gitlab-com!73172 (merged) we discussed running a pilot for the CI/CD UX Team where we block one calendar day per month to work on career development. The Create team also decided to join the pilot!

Our first team growth day is 2021-02-25 🎉

Note: If you're OOO on the 25th, make sure you schedule a day dedicated to your personal growth in the next week.

This issue is used to track our learnings and share our team experience from the first Personal Growth Day.

How will the pilot work?

  • During the personal growth day, choose an area you'd like to improve. This can be a skill, value, or specific responsibility related to your role.
  • Share your focus area and action plan by commenting on this issue.
  • Join the #ux-growth-day-pilot Slack channel.
  • After the 25th, please take some time to reply to the retrospective and accomplishment thread so we can move forward the discussion about how we're working on our personal development!

Manager facilitated support

On the 25th, @rayana and @mvanremmerden will be available for syncs to discuss career aspirations with the team. Some of the topics we can address synchronously:

  • Work on your existing development (growth) plan or start a new one.
  • Listen and provide feedback, ideas and contacts.
  • Help you make choices to support your development.

If you'd like to have a 1:1 on that day, please schedule a 30 min call with your manager.
