An issues board which has the simplicity of a physical board

The interviews highlighted that users who utilised more complex project management tools (i.e. JIRA) have also resorted to using a physical board. Whilst some users may always have a need for a physical board, this is not an option for companies which are entirely or partially remote (for example, this was a pain point for User 5 whose company utilises a physical board, but employs remote workers who obviously cannot see it).
Simplistic project management tools (i.e. Trello) do not have the functionality that some of these larger teams need. Whereas JIRA provides overall project tracking and progress, but doesn't have the level of simplicity these teams need on a day-to-day basis. Therefore, I wonder if this is a gap that GitLab could fill?
The main reason these teams have resorted to a physical board is because they provide "presence". They can be used at stands-ups and provide a quick and easy way to see what people are working on. They also act as a reminder for urgent work which needs to be prioritised or completed by a due date.
I think more research is required on this area, but it's perhaps something the UX team could start thinking about?
