Proposal: Transition NFR program to Zuora SKUs
Background
What is the "NFR" program?
"NFR" stands for "not for resale". This is a program introduced to offer GitLab authorized channel partners a means of
How are these subscriptions issued today?
Channel operations team members:
- Open an Internal Support ticket
- Fill out NFR request form to populate info on this spreadsheet.
Support team then:
How often is this occurring?
Problems with Current State
Time-consuming, manual process for Support
Not auditable or trackable
Not compatible with subscription add-ons (Duo Pro, Storage, Compute Minutes)
- This means partners will not be able to purchase or trial our new AI functionality such as
Duo Pro
- Current NFR customers have experienced downgrades to Free when trying to add an add-on - see SaaS NFR groups downgraded to Free after add-on... (gitlab-org/customers-gitlab-com#8756).
Proposal
Create new Zuora SKUs specific to NFR priced at $0.
Why a new SKU?
- Removes the manual effort on the support team by automating provisioning
- Better tracking of these subscriptions, including of seat usage data
- Follows the same process as paid purchases, but also as the EDU, OSS & Start-up program
