Validation & Design Track 🔎

The Validation & Design track focuses on preparing the personalized homepage for broader adoption within GitLab Team Members. The team is working on automatically defaulting all GitLab Team Members to the new personalized homepage experience to gather internal feedback before the full GA rollout. They're also adding a "Provide feedback" link directly on the homepage to make it easier for users to share their thoughts on the new experience. A major initiative is integrating GitLab Duo directly into the homepage with a prominent chat input and intelligent prompt suggestions based on the user's work context (like "help me fix pipeline #123" or "summarize the discussion on issue #456"), making AI assistance more accessible and driving increased Duo usage. Additionally, there's exploration of an ambitious "Project Studio" design vision that would create an AI-native experience with GitLab Duo as a persistent, intelligent assistant throughout the entire workflow, potentially transforming how users interact with GitLab's interface.

Build Track 🛠️

The Build track is focused on expanding the functionality and improving the data foundation of the personalized homepage. Users will benefit from better activity tracking through new instrumentation that measures homepage usage and link clicks, helping the team understand which widgets are most valuable. The recently viewed items panel will be enhanced to include epics and will sort items by when users actually viewed them rather than when they were last updated, making it more personally relevant. Two new activity feed features will show the most recent actions from both starred projects and followed users, giving users better visibility into the work happening in their areas of interest. There's also technical exploration of a new application chrome design that could significantly improve the overall user interface experience.
