Spike: Research performance improvements for activity feed

Problem to solve

• The events API is slow and frequently fails to complete within the allowed timeout window

Proposal

• Research approaches to improve the performance of the Activity feed on the Homepage. This could include approaches like:
  • Caching
  • Query optimization
  • Database improvements
  • Any other ideas you have!
• Document the results of your research in a comment on this issue
• Create a POC of this approach if possible. We can clean it up in a dedicated delivery issue.
