GitLab MVP Nominations for 17.0 through 17.11

Update 2025-04-08

All nominees for the new GitLab Notable Contributor award (formerly MVP) should be made in the new issue for 18.0 through 18.11 releases: #860

Nomination process

To give more recognition to our growing community of contributors we are iterating on the MVPs (Most Valuable Persons) selection process.

  • Starting in release 17 we are using a rolling nominations process that replaces separate nomination issues each milestone.
  • This will allow nominations to occur at any time so you won’t have to wait for the next nomination issue to go live.
  • Nominees will carry over and stay in consideration each month.
  • When a nominee continues to contribute this will help boost their chances for recognition.

Please add any community contributors you found helpful as your support now will help them when they make future contributions to GitLab too!

Overview

Help recognize wider community contributors for a GitLab MVP (Most Valuable Persons) award!

  1. This issue collects all MVP nominations from team members and the wider community for GitLab releases 17.0 through 17.11.
  2. The Contributor Success team will share a link to this issue each month in the #release-post, #developer-relations, #mr-coaching, #core, and whats-happening-at-gitlab Slack channels and the community Discord #announcements channel to encourage MVP nominations.
  3. For each release post, Contributor Success will choose from the eligible nominees based on their contribution and community impact, nomination comments and emoji votes.
  4. The GitLab MVP is recognized with:
    • A featured write-up in the GitLab release post
    • The MVP achievement badge in their user profile
    • A choice of a GitLab swag pack or tree planting option
  5. Check out the full GitLab MVP Selection Process in the Contributor Success handbook.
