Overview

This issue represents the release planning for the Gitaly Group for the milestone listed in the above title.

Problem Validation / Solution Validation

• Opportunity Canvas for Incremental Backups (confidential link: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/Product/-/issues/3506)
• Solution Validation for Disk Crawler to remove left-over repositories
  • Need to finalize our solution as there is an edge case discussed here that we want to make sure we handle correctly.

• Complete FIPS Compliance Analysis

Features

• Release referencing repositories by a unique and persistent identifier
  • Was scheduled originally for %14.6, but the desire for complete and robust testing caused us to defer one release.
• Deliver Disk Crawler to remove left-over repositories

Performance / Engineering Backlog

• Migrate Gitaly hooks directory away from Ruby code
• Remove CommitsBetween RPC
• Remove OldPath and NewPath fields from RawChanges RPC
• Remove ignore rule for runner_features

• Test Praefect Against Network Partitions
• Reduce total execution time for job ee:gitaly-cluster
