This was originally done in https://ops.gitlab.net/gitlab-cookbooks/gitlab-packagecloud/-/merge_requests/3, but had to be reverted via !37 (merged) because we wanted to announce the deprecation. We announced it via https://about.gitlab.com/blog/2022/05/02/amazon-linux-2-support-and-distro-specific-packages/#need-to-know-takeaways, so it is safe to drop the workaround now.
