GitLab name and logo usage guidelines

Why is this change being made?

Often GL vendors want to display the GL name and/or logo in their customer listings. Sometimes GL customers want to display the GL name and/ or logo as a supplier (i.e. "we run on GitLab"). Especially prior to an IPO, but really at any time during the life of a company, your brand is one of your most valuable assets (only second to your employees). The perception of your brand in the market can impact sales, stock price and your short term and long term success as a company. Companies who understand this implement protections of the brand (name and logo use) in order to preserve the value of the asset. These protections often include restrictions of use to only strategic partners and resellers (in compliance with logo guidelines). This effort would prevent the potential of the brand becoming ubiquitous and diluting its value. I can help support that effort in vendor contracts and the legal team can add language to the customer agreement template.

Impact: Protect and restrict the use of GitLab's name and logo in order to sustain the brand value. Prevent diluting of the value of the brand by allowing it to become ubiquitous in the market. Perception of the brand can impact current and future sales (both pricing and volume), stock price, short term and long term commercial success, employment security and short term and long term company growth.
