Legal has an OKR to implement a review step as part of the product development process, to enable identification of risks and legal compliance concerns at an appropriate stage, avoiding late-stage developmental delays, and ensure legal risk are mitigated appropriately.

A key driver is compliance with data protection laws, which mandate a ‘privacy-by-design’ approach - this has been required for some time, so it’s critically important.

As part of the questionnaire, we will also take the opportunity to further collaborate with Product to capture info on possible legal concerns relating to use of IP, licensing, and data exporting/trade compliance.

Gating questions will be used to help minimize the instances where completion of the full questionnaire is required (ensuring it operates efficiently).

The Product Ops team has collaborated on the process, which is being soft-launched, with a plan to iterate and introduce supporting automations to encourage process compliance over time with ease.
