Travel for CEO Shadow Program

Kristie Thomas requested to merge ceo-shadow-program into master

First iteration - allow travel for CEO Shadow Program

Goal: Allow program to be inclusive of team members in non PST timezones, and as first iteration, non US timezones.

Now that travel restrictions have been lifted for the company, we want to discuss what it would be like for some rotations to allow for travel. The first iteration is to open up travel for shadows in timezones that do not allow for them to participate in the program remotely.

This would be different from the previous in-person program. Sid has moved to another residence in San Francisco. Shadows would work out of a coworking space. We need Covid protocols in place.

Program Options:

Option 1: Travel to San Francisco for either full rotation or 1 week of your rotation.

  • This would allow the Teach 1 and See 1 to have overlap for 1 week in San Francisco in person. We could schedule time for lunch or a visit with Sid, schedules permitting.
  • The shadowing would still be remote. Shadows would work out of a coworking space while shadowing.
  • If in SF, we'd work to prioritize 1 in-person meal or get together with Sid.

Option 2: Allow travel to US or in US from timezones 2 hours or more away from PST.

  • Shadow can choose their destination while shadowing. We've gotten feedback that some team members have a place to stay or family to visit in a timezone closer to PST than where they live. They'd enjoy shadowing in US timezone, but being able to stay in a location of their choosing.

Option 3: Allow Shadows to choose how they would like to shadow

  • Allow folks to still participate without traveling (remote rotation as we have had since March 2020) or choose from one of the options above.

Decisions to be made:

  1. Criteria to be able to travel for the CEO Shadow Program
  2. Can shadows choose to not travel while shadowing?
  3. Can shadows who will travel choose from one of the options above?
  4. Covid protocols

TODO:

  • Remove references to Mission Control. Sid has moved.
  • Determine what to call rotations that allow travel to US. They may not be in person with Sid.
  • find place to stay and coworking space to work in San Francisco
