2020-06-30 Kibana upgrade from 7.5 to 7.8 failed and we lost the Kibana index (which contains index patterns, dashboards, saved searches, etc)
As part of this change: #2346 (closed) Elasticsearch was successfully upgrade to
7.8.0. As the next step, Kibana was upgrade to
7.8.0, but the upgrade failed when rolling over the index behind the
Unfortunately, Elastic Cloud doesn't allow us to roll back to
.kibana alias is currently pointing to
.kibana_3 so that it at least starts.
One potential solution might be to spin up another 7.5 ES cluster, restore
.kibana_2 from the latest snapshot, perform an update in that secondary cluster and then copy the index that will be created to the production logging cluster.
