Make auto-deploy notify jobs ping @release-managers on failure
When something goes wrong during an auto-deploy pipeline, we get nice announcements to the slack channel #announcements
indicating a problem has occurred such as these
While it is practice for release-managers to monitor this channel continuously for these failures, I am in the unique position where I am kind of a "half release manager" every day of the year. So I typically try to work on my assigned work while still watching this channel and solving problems as they arise. Because of this split focus, I often miss these messages in slack until some time has passed, meaning these problems aren't getting triaged and fixed as quickly as they could be.
I think it might be worthwhile modifying these notifications so that they ping the slack handle @release-managers
on failures only. This means for myself, I'll get notified of them ASAP, and I suspect this might help others with their turnaround time on triaging and fixing such issues.
What does everyone else think? Is this a problem that others face? Or am I unique?
