How to Contribute to the Learn Gitlab Project Template
Intent
All Product Groups should be able to contribute to the Learn GitLab Project template. There is no contribution guide yet, but this issue should serve as a reference point for other Product Groups contributing to the Learn GitLab Project template.
What can you contribute
How your groups can contribute
The current process is a manual one.
Step 1: Create an issue
Suggested first step is to create an issue outlining the changes, mention @gitlab-org/growth, apply the ~"Category:Onboarding" label.
Step 2: Determine what project template you're going to update
Determine if your update to the Learn GitLab project should reside in the free user (core) Learn GitLab project or if it should reside in the Learn GitLab project that's specific to users that have started a trial. To determine this you should think about if your update is available in the free product, if it's not then most likely it should reside in the trial project. If your update is available in the free product and you think it would be valuable to new users then it should reside in the free learn GitLab project. However, it can also reside in the trial project as well if you think it would be valuable to both cohorts of users, this would require completing step 3 twice, one time for each project you're updating.
Step 3: Update the template
- Download and import the project template
- Make changes
- Export the project
- Open a merge request to update the template in GitLab.
- Add the
~"Category:Onboarding"label to the merge request. - Request a review from
@gitlab-org/growth
