Create a focus on value/ outcomes in Product Managers' required ongoing actions
Product engagement survey action:
Develop a product handbook page outlining the required monthly release tasks for PM's. Make it clear what's required, and what's optional and/or there for best practice guidance. Endeavor to reduce the monthly release task list for PM's so there is more time available for high value activities like customer, market, and competitive research.
-
Communicate a clear priority of required vs non-required items in the product handbook - For example, identify all value focused actions in product handbook and a organize them on a unique page or highlighting them with a unique icon throughout the handbook pages
-
Identify/reduce all the project management related tasks product managers do daily/weekly/months but either removing tasks as required or finding a path to automation #2055 (closed) -
Reduce scope of product management onboarding to focus on the task most relevant to driving value/outcomes as a product manager at Gitlab -
Design product management onboarding to direct link to relevant tasks required for success at GitLab. What should be prioritized in: - the first 3 months ("1st 100 days in office")
- the first 6 months
- ongoing...
- cross link all of the above to the relevant the product handbook, product development flow and the L & D/competencies/CDF
