[Outreachy 2024] Moving Fedora Ready compatible devices to Fedora Docs
Description
Move the list of computers that ship, or support Fedora to Fedora docs, enabling continuous updates to the list.
Create a page under the Fedora Marketing Team docs for the Fedora Ready compatibility list. This page will be the one-stop shop for people to find all of the computers that come with Fedora preinstalled, officially support Fedora, or should work with Fedora. An important qualifier is that it needs to be confirmed by the vendor somehow.
The page needs to have two main sections. The first will introduce what the Fedora Ready compatibility list is and what the criteria are for being put on this list. The second will be the list itself.
For the first section, here is a post where I try to explain what the idea behind Fedora Ready is as a brand. It encompasses more than just this list, but this list is an important part of the value we're trying to give back to vendors. Take this and the criteria I outlined above to draft the first section.
For the second section, here is the first draft of the Fedora Ready compatibility list. It has some additional context about why we have this need. Please take this table format, add the stock Slimbook items and the Fedora Slimbook items as well (we have our own Fedora branded laptops :) ). Sort this table by Ships Fedora first, then Supports Fedora, then Fedora Friendly. Also change the categories to the language below.
- Ships Fedora > Fedora preinstalled
- Supports Fedora > Fedora supported by vendor
- Fedora friendly > Fedora may run
For the column to link to the items so that people can buy if they're interested, do your best.
Here is the Fedora Marketing Team docs where the page will be merged into.
Expectations right now are just to get a first draft set up somewhere. The closer to getting this merged into the docs the better. However, I know this is a new system for you and so we can walk you through the parts where you may get stuck.
Looking forward to the first draft.
