License review: Pixar License (“Modified Apache 2.0 License”)
License Review Request
License name
None
Pixar refers to this license as a “Modified Apache 2.0 License,” which is accurate but not specific. I suggest “Pixar License” since this particular modification appears to originate in Pixar’s open-source projects.
Text of license
In license files, Pixar seems to prefer to write out the full license text:
https://github.com/PixarAnimationStudios/OpenSubdiv/raw/v3_5_0/LICENSE.txt
The license is sometimes (especially in source file headers) expressed more concisely by reference to the Apache-2.0
license:

The additional disclaimer appears to be redundant with section 7 of the license.

Is this license on the SPDX License List?
no
Reason for license review
While working on the existing usd
package, which I co-maintain, I noticed that the primary license is not actually exactly Apache-2.0
(although this is correct for some files in the package).
