Avatar/logo for QEMU Monitor Protocol Library
Hi there!
I was asking around for a simple/quick logo for a small subproject, and Kashyap recommended I reach out to [Máirín] and ask. She pointed me here to this repo to file a ticket
I recently split https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/python-qemu-qmp out from QEMU and noticed the page looks a little sad without an image. Same story for this page: https://pypi.org/project/qemu.qmp/ and this one: https://qemu.readthedocs.io/projects/python-qemu-qmp/en/latest/
(I think that's the totality of all the places where the image might be used.)
It's not a big, important project and I don't expect to use it for marketing at all, I just hate the sight of a default image graphic - I want to communicate that though the project is small, it is cared for
We have a new nascent ideas for what might be a suitable logo, but no real strong direction yet.
Our project is just a python library for the QMP RPC protocol used to communicate with QEMU et al.
Our thinking:
- QEMU's logo is the orange Emu
- Python's logo is a two-headed snake.
- QMP does not have a logo, but the command vocabulary language it uses is generated from a tool called "QAPI", lit. "QEMU API". In practice, qemu maintainers pronounce this as "kwahpi". As an injoke, I refer to the QAPI maintainers as the "QAPI barons". This morphed over time to "Capybara".
A lot of our brainstorm ideas revolve around some combination of these three animals
(And - in case it matters - I am in the process of packaging this for Fedora. Got a preliminary ack for the first spec file. Gorey details: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2112474)
