Create a Fedora inclusive event organizing checklist for physical/in-person events in Fedora Docs
Migrated from pagure:fedora-diversity#54.
Summary
Create a new Fedora Docs page with a checklist on how an event organizer can improve/boost inclusivity when organizing an in-person event.
Background
This task comes from one of our oldest tickets. A significant amount of work was undertaken by the DEI Team on this effort, but the work was never published or given a final resting home. See this Google Doc where a majority of the previous work was documented.
In 2019, we revisited this work again, since the 2016/2017 times when Bee Padalkar compiled and wrote the majority of the content. The goal in 2019 was to slim down the content, and create a more Fedora-focused version of the information that we could use as a checklist for our own events. Fortunately, the checklist is mostly created already in the Google Doc above. But we need to publish it so everyone in the community can benefit when it comes to in-person event organizing.
Details
There is a short-term and long-term aspect to this ticket. For the purpose of completion, this issue can be closed once the short-term aspect is completed.
Short-term: Copy the event checklist from the Google Doc. Edit any content that may be outdated. Create a new page on the DEI Team docs site that includes this content.
Long-term: Review the focus of the content and what gaps there are (this doc has not been looked at closely since COVID-19). Could we take anything from this guide for consideration with virtual events? How could we create more resources for event organizers generally, while still keeping a Fedora focus?
Outcome
Any event organizer in the Fedora community has a common set of best practices to help them consider inclusivity when putting together an in-person event.
