Fedora Mentor Summit 2023
Summary
Plan, organize, and execute the next Fedora Mentor Summit in April/May 2023.
Background
The 2022 Fedora Mentor Summit was a success and we want to run this event again to support the culture of mentoring in the Fedora Community. This event would be two to three days of content by Fedora mentors and past mentees, participants from other free & open source communities, and anyone interested in being a part of Fedora as a mentor or mentee. Additionally, this is a good opportunity to celebrate and share our gratitude to mentors who share their passion for mentoring with the Fedora Community.
This issue is to gather discussion for the 2023 event. We'll need to build a team, decide a strategy, and explore hosting options (e.g. virtual, in-person, or hybrid).
Details
I propose identifying one or two bottom-liners for the Mentor Summit. Being a bottom-liner means you take the active role of a project manager by organizing team efforts and facilitating event planning calls. The bottom-liner(s) would work closely with the FCAIC (me) on event logistics and the DEI Team for community support.
The bottom-liner role is also a mentored role and you will have opportunities to work with others as a team to deliver the event. Being bottom-liner does not it is a one-person show!
Once bottom-liner(s) are identified, we can explore logistics, timelines, and possibly run a retrospective on last year's event.
Outcome
The Fedora DEI Team supports another successful gathering of the Fedora Mentored Projects community and encourages the culture of mentoring in Fedora.
