New app: Trailkeeper Offgrid

Required

  • The app complies with the inclusion criteria — FLOSS (GPL-3.0-only), no proprietary/tracking/analytics dependencies (AndroidX, Room, Gson, Coil, MapLibre only), FLOSS toolchain (AGP/Kotlin/Gradle, Temurin JDK in CI), no embedded API keys (map tiles from OpenFreeMap need none), actively maintained (v0.2.0 through v0.3.9), fully functional, genuine standalone utility.
  • The original app author has been notified (and does not oppose the inclusion) — I am the author and am submitting this myself.
  • All related fdroiddata and RFP issues have been referenced in this merge request — none exist for this app.
  • Builds with fdroid build and all pipelines pass — pipeline on my fork fails before any job runs (0 minutes used, 0 jobs created) because this is a brand-new GitLab account and GitLab is gating CI/CD minutes on shared runners behind identity verification. Per this template's own instructions ("If Gitlab starts asking for phone numbers or credit cards don't submit anything, just leave a note in the MR so we know we need to trigger the CI") - leaving this note rather than completing that verification. I ran fdroid lint com.trailkeeperoffgrid.app locally (clean, no findings) before opening this MR, but haven't been able to run the actual fdroid build pipeline.
  • There is an issue tracker and contact info of the author so that we can report bugs and contact the author — IssueTracker/AuthorName set; https://github.com/AndSni/TrailkeeperOffgrid/issues.
  • The upstream app source code repo contains the app metadata (summary/description/images/changelog/etc) in a Fastlane folder structure — metadata/en-US/ in the source repo (title, short/full description, per-version changelogs, icon, feature graphic, screenshots).
  • Releases are tagged and auto update is enabled — AutoUpdateMode: Version, UpdateCheckMode: Tags; releases tagged vX.Y.Z matching versionCode/versionName.

Suggested

  • External repos are added as git submodules instead of srclibs — not applicable, no external repo dependencies in the build.
  • Enable Reproducible Builds — not yet evaluated; open to doing this as a follow-up if useful.
  • Multiple apks for native code — not applicable, no native code.

About the app: offline, single-user Android app for trail maintenance crews and volunteers who work with no signal - no account, no backend, no sync. Everything stays on the phone unless the user explicitly exports or shares it.

  • Source: https://github.com/AndSni/TrailkeeperOffgrid
  • License: GPL-3.0-only
  • Anti-features: none - no ads, no analytics, no trackers. Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap (no API key required).
  • Build metadata (Categories/License/Changelog/Builds/etc.) also lives in the app's own .fdroid.yml at the repo root; this fdroiddata copy is kept in sync with it.
  • Release build has isMinifyEnabled = false (no ProGuard/R8 keep rules needed) and falls back to debug signing when no keystore is present, so no project-specific signing setup should be needed to build it.
