WIP: post: We need real "distros" like Debian and F-Droid

I've been trying to formulate clear ideas around Free Software, sandboxes, distros, targetSdkVersion, and security for a while now, and it seems I haven't been able to pull it together into a post yet, though I keep on accumulating notes. So I thought I'd try a different approach: through it how there to see if others can take something out of this mess and push it where it needs to go.
