Refs EE-344 - Remove core benchmark tests

Background

During the live review of !1013 (merged) we discussed removing the core benchmark (performance) tests. The reasoning is that the performance of the whole engine should be already tested by the new performance tests, therefore the existing benchmark tests in core become somehow redundant.
