Some files cannot be fetched from the CVMFS sync server
@boegel found that someone had reported an issue on the CVMFS forum regarding syncing from our sync server: https://cernvm-forum.cern.ch/t/cvmfs-server-snapshot-software-eessi-io-replication-failing/404.
Trying to manually fetch the file mentioned in the error message doesn't seem to work either:
$ curl http://aws-eu-west-s1-sync.eessi.science/cvmfs/software.eessi.io/data/e1/9f8c5cd1fb0e5a7f56aba50e0ca6cb923e79af
curl: (56) Recv failure: Connection reset by peer
It works fine for (almost) any another file, e.g. one in the same subdir of the bucket:
$ curl http://aws-eu-west-s1-sync.eessi.science/cvmfs/software.eessi.io/data/e1/9f89fdb162353da5a370f6bd19d00a3b29cf3a
Warning: Binary output can mess up your terminal. Use "--output -" to tell
Warning: curl to output it to your terminal anyway, or consider "--output
Warning: <FILE>" to save to a file.
We're using a DNS CNAME record to have a custom URL on top of an S3 bucket, but with the original/direct URL to the file we see the same issue:
$ curl http://s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/aws-eu-west-s1-sync.eessi.science/cvmfs/software.eessi.io/data/e1/9f8c5cd1fb0e5a7f56aba50e0ca6cb923e79af
curl: (56) Recv failure: Connection reset by peer
Using https
does work, though:
Warning: Binary output can mess up your terminal. Use "--output -" to tell
Warning: curl to output it to your terminal anyway, or consider "--output
Warning: <FILE>" to save to a file.
It's still unclear to me what's causing this...
