LQA_Report_2
Issue:
Variable is not compatible with every language.
STRING CONTENT | POSSIBLE ISSUES |
---|---|
%s won! |
%s = {{player}} {{color}} While "{{player}} {{color}}" might make some sense in other languages, such as in English, it doesn't in Turkish. Only "{{color}} {{player}}" would make sense in Turkish. P.S. I should also add that "{{color}} {{player}}" sounds better in English, too, imo. |
Some possible solutions:
NEW STRING CONTENT | EXPLANATION | POSSIBLE ISSUES |
---|---|---|
Option 1: {{player}} {{color}} won! Option 2: {{color}} {{player}} won! |
Separated %s into two variables: {{player}} and {{color}}. |
While this solution fixes the issue for the Turkish localization, it may still be problematic for other languages, namely because of declension. In linguistics, declension is the changing of the form of a word. In Russian, for example, when you use the word синий (blue) as an adjective of another word, it can take 4 different forms depending on the word it is describing:
|
{{color}} won! | Getting rid of {{player}} altogether and referring to players by their respective colors. | Very unlikely to be problematic linguistic-wise. |
Option 1:
Option 2
|
Getting rid of the variable altogether and splitting the string into 4 different strings. | There are no problems linguistic-wise. |
