General instructions for the participants in Hack the Fake News 2017
The task
During the event your task would be to develop a data based solution to a chosen case study. Our best advice when developing your solution is to seriously consider the CRISP-DM Methodology, also considering our remarks how to use it.
To start working, go to https://gitlab.com/datasciencesociety and clone the project containing the desired case study (for detailed instructions on how to start and deliver your solution, please read Git User Guide for the Datathon. Every project contains general information for every team, specific case description and data sets. After you fork the project you start developing your solution. There are some technical opportunities provided (read further down). Before the deadline you should upload your final results back to your fork of the project.
Expected outputs are:
- description data processing required to solve the case;
- description of algorithms, workflows, etc.;
- working models, rulesets, etc.;
- source codes, used libraries;
During your work you should document the process of developing your solution in a publicly available white paper (or report) with a provided template.
After you have developed your solutions you will have the opportunity to make a short presentation about it.
Technical infrastructure
Especially for the event Data Science Society has provided several utilities to help you perferm and collaborate at the best of your abilities. These include:
- Gitlab setup projects (for more on gitalb read https://docs.gitlab.com/ce/gitlab-basics/README.html)
