As a Crossref member I want up to date mime/media types to be supported in Crossref metadata
As a Crossref member I want mime/media types to be supported in Crossref metadata so that I may supply accurate metadata
What
We currently collect media types in our metadata. The input schema has a @mime_type
attribute with a static list of IANA media types as values. We've been updating this as requested but updates require a schema update, which takes time on our end and requires the member to migrate to a new schema version. It would be better to have a more reasonably up to date list as well as a process in place to keep the list up to date.
Why We ask for it, we should support it
How urgent Not urgent but should be simple to add the most recently requested media types.

Notes
- The
@mime_type
attribute is used in component and dataset content types, as well as by theresource
element. - Requests for updates of mime types infrequent, but I have a few pending. I am creating a user story because I want to take a closer look at better ways to support this metadata
