[Feature request] Ability to keep CoreCtrl in background without using any system tray icon
Description
Hello! I'd like to be able to keep CoreCtrl in background even on systems where no "system tray" (or equivalent concept) is present. Checking ps aux | grep corectrl
, I can see that processes for CoreCtrl (corectrl
and corectrl_helper
) are up as long as I'm keeping windows open for CoreCtrl. However, every process disappears once I close the window, losing for example my fan curve settings. If I enable the system tray icon, everything stays in the background correctly. However, having to use a system tray icon can be undesirable for some users.
What I guess would be ideal would be to turn the "Start minimized on system tray" option into "Start in background", which together with "Show system tray icon" would cause the same effect, while still not leaving out users with no system tray,
Use cases
I have two main use cases in mind:
- letting vanilla Gnome users still comfortably start the program at boot;
- give users of other DEs the ability to both keep a clean system tray and still rock this amazing piece of software.
