CoolerControl daemon energy consumption
This is perhaps more of an FYI than a bug, but I notice that coolercontrold itself causes substantial increase in energy usage. Normally, this machine sits there using about 4W at the package level:
% sudo turbostat --show PkgTmp,PkgWatt,CorWatt -i 10 --quiet --Summary
PkgTmp PkgWatt CorWatt
30 3.53 0.57
However, with coolercontrold running, this is doubled (core power is > 8x higher).
% sudo systemctl start coolercontrold
% sudo turbostat --show PkgTmp,PkgWatt,CorWatt -i 10 --quiet --Summary
PkgTmp PkgWatt CorWatt
30 8.06 4.60
On my machine the daemons are waking up about 10-15 times per second, and coolercontrold uses about 50ms/s CPU time. I think if the daemon woke up less frequently, and/or used a bit less CPU each time, that might lower the energy impact. A moving device like a fan or pump can't usefully respond on millisecond scales anyway.
