Post: Using Cloudflare as a Reverse Proxy
I've been thinking about doing this post as it is one of the prerequisites for the Ara project that Cloudflare is set up and working.
I would go through the following:
-
What is a proxy. How does it work? What context we are doing and why - Project Ara Using docker as a basis of simple plugin and play, zero configuration type of deal.
-
How to setup Cloudflare Reverse Proxy Need to say about how you have to pay nothing but require a credit card and all. Can probably say about the whole
Cloudflare Zero Trust
infrastructure and how it is more a management system. Or a dashboard.
Need to think what is the best way to go about this. Do I assume they already have external tools that they want to expose to working from home or maybe it's looking at a homelab situation. Or even if you had a minecraft sever you wanted to expose.
- Notes about Security and Privacy.
Especially if you are exposing personal tools like Portainer, you do not want unauthorised people to see them - so working on the Zero Trust Applications setting. Even though Cloudflare is a security focused company, if you were to set up the tunnel that would not by design help
Anyway there's the framing of the article here. Let's get to work.
