Save patch data before trying to apply it

When the patch application fails, we don't get the patch data in the report because they are only saved after a successful application. This can get super confusing as the report is not a reply to that particular patch but either a standalone email, or a reply to the last patch in the series which is usually not the patch that failed to be applied.

Make it easier to check which patch failed to apply and why by providing the data to recipients.
