Work around GitLab registry transfer limits for public repositories
In the coming months, GitLab will begin enforcing transfer limits for container registries. GitLab bills the namespace owner for bandwidth, so it would be wise if these reference containers were published to a registry that expects consumers to pay, rather than producers.
I believe a prudent strategy would be publishing to Docker Hub, and configuring pipelines to proxy through GitLab. This would result in customers paying for their own data transfer, and prevent surprises later.
