Publish the brand guidelines and license the Marks
Problem
The Terms of Service said the Marks could not be used "without our express written permission". That does not describe how the project wants them used: community promotion and community merchandise are welcome. The site also had nowhere describing how the Marks should be reproduced, so there was nothing for a licence to be conditioned on.
Change
New page. The brand guidelines are published as a help page at /brand.html,
served the same way as the FAQ and the Terms of Service, and listed in the side panel
above the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.
Terms of Service. The single trademark sentence is replaced by a Trademarks and Branding subsection inside Licenses and Intellectual Property. It grants a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence for non-commercial promotion and for community merchandise, subject to the guidelines, and lists the uses it does not cover (confusion as to endorsement, phishing and fraud, distorted Marks, domain and handle squatting, paid advertising implying affiliation). Section numbering is unchanged.
Guidelines content. Each interface colour is given with the token that carries it
in _variables.scss, so a value can be traced from the document to the stylesheet
rather than being copied by hand. The three themes the interfaces ship are described
separately. The accent is stated as the colour of the logo artwork and of the
application icons. A contrast note records that the accent on white reaches 3.13:1,
which is sufficient for large text but not for body copy.
Verification
node scripts/validate_locale_json.js passes. The route resolves in
ResolveRoute.test.js, the page mounts in RootRoute.js, the side panel entry
precedes the two legal links, and the licence text links to the published page.
