Feature request: /root dir overlay for .ssh/authorized_keys preservation across upgrades
I recently upgraded a 5.8 resflash router to 5.9. Everything went great except for the fact that I could not log in. Turns out I had lost the /root/.ssh/authorized_keys dir and files across the upgrade, which I was using for passwordless SSH logins.
Subsequently had to pull the router and connect a serial console to regain access to the device. No big deal since this one was on premise, but it could have been ugly if located hundreds or thousands of miles away.
I tested further, booting back to the 5.8 install, mounting /cfg, copying /root/.ssh/authorized_keys to /cfg/root/.ssh/authorized_keys, umounted /cfg, rebooted system back to upgrade 5.9 partition, same problem.
If I went wrong somewhere let me know, otherwise can you please log this as a feature request?
