consider submitting results to (and comparing implementation with) https://pibenchmarks.com
just found out about https://pibenchmarks.com/
interesting space: they collect a large number (70k+ as of late 2022) of benchmarks and periodically declare winners. it's a really interesting approach.
their client-side implementation is this massive shell script that runs hdparm, dd, iozone and fio, so it's a little intense. it also collects OS information and manufacturer statistics... it's a bit of a mess, but we may want to allow users to contribute to this growing database.
if anything, just look at how they perform their tests and learn from that.
