Hello! Saw your post on Futurice & Friends and thought I could contribute :)

Please note that I'm not a native English speaker, so feel free to look at wording or typos and request changes.

One thing that came to my mind regarding "Move to Finland straight away": As far as I know, if someone comes to work with the 90-day permit (while waiting for the work permit) they are still not considered a permanent resident in Finland, which means that there won't be things like health care (well there will, but no Kela support so they better have a good insurance otherwise health costs can be huge in case that something happens before the residence permit is approved) and also they won't be able to register an address in Finland without a residence permit, so things like opening a bank account or getting internet from an ISP may be almost impossible. And please correct me if I'm wrong or if you have more info! I've lived in Fi since 2015 and I might very well be wrong regarding some of these things 😄

I might consider putting the option "B" as the first option just because it is what authorities usually recommend (waiting for the visa resolution before moving) and in many ways it's also the easiest and safest for the person moving to Finland. Also one thing worth mentioning is that if the visa application gets rejected, the person can appeal to that decision (if it seems wrong) and the authorities are bound to review the application again, in which case the applicant does not have to leave the country if it was already here until the appeal process is done.
