[YDB#780] V7.0-000 [GTM-8913] Revised database format supports up to 16Gi blocks in a region
V7.0-000 creates database files that can hold up to 16Gi blocks; this requires a new database format using 64 rather than 32-bit pointers. The impact on storage efficiency is a function of the ratio of key size to pointers size. Prior versions used 32-bit block pointers and recent V6 versions supported a maximum of 992Mi Blocks. V7.000 supports databases created using V6, which appear the same within the global directory mapping. However, migrating existing data requires MUPIP EXTRACT and LOAD, which FIS recommends using a replicating instance to minimize down time. A future release will provide an upgrade path that does not require an extract and load. GT.M V7 does not support database files created with versions prior to V5. If upgrading from such a version, please use a V6.3-014 or other late V6 version as an intermediate step. (GTM-8913)
