pythia8-config in Pythia 8.311 returns an error when querying about installation data outside of the source directory
Dear Pythia developers,
if I install Pythia 8.311 in a different directory than that of the sources and then I try to use pythia8-config
to get information about the installation, I get the error message:
"Error: cannot find valid configuration for Pythia 8"
I tried on three different Gnu/Linux systems, always hitting this problem.
The error does not appear when invoking the copy of pythia8-config
under the building/source directory.
These are the commands that I issued:
tar xf pythia8311.tgz && cd pythia8311
./configure --cxx-common='-std=c++17 -march=native -O3 -fPIC -pthread' --prefix=_my_installation_dir_path_
make -j12 && make install
cd
_my_installation_dir_path_/bin/pythia8-config --libdir
I get the same error with other flags like --bindir or --config.
I don't have this problem with Pythia 8.310.
Thank you for attention. (And your work, of course!) Gabriele
