Auto brigthness goes crazy when the status bar is in light color
When using devices with a notch (hotdogb in my case) and dark theme, if some app (strava, or progressive web app using firefox) is in light theme, then the status bar will become white.
In that case, if light themed status bar will confuse the ambient light sensor to believe the ambient is bright, and increase the auto brightness to almost max.
This is definitely different from what OxygenOS is doing. One workaround would be hide the notch by not using the pixels around the notch completely, but unfortunately no such hide the notch option in the display cutout.
Expected Behavior
No matter what the color theme of the status bar, the auto brightness should work without increasing the brightness to max in a low light environment.
Current Behavior
Even in a low light environment, if the status bar is in white, the auto brightness goes almost max.
Possible Solution
Provide hide the notch cutout option to workaround the positive feedback.
The proper fix would take the light emitted by the status bar into consideration for auto brightness.
Steps to Reproduce
- Enable auto brightness
- Install firefox and enable light theme
- Browse any dark themed web site using firefox in a low light environment
