Real Time Clock not updated/synchronized
Expected Behavior
The RTC of the device shall be updated/in sync with the network-provided time. When rebooting the device, the date and time shall roughly be correct. When rebooting into recovery (TWRP), it shall read the current date and time.
Current Behavior
When rebooting the device, it shows an older date and time. Once it is unlocked, the system time is promptly fixed to reflect the network-provided time. When rebooting into recovery, TWRP reads an old date and time. On one of my phones it's some day in 1973, one other it's some day in 1970 (not January 1st).
Hint
The problem does NOT occur with a third device, also a cheeseburger, which was upgraded from 17.1 rather than installed clean 18.1.
Steps to Reproduce
- Install LOS 18.1 onto a OnePlus 5 clean
- Start the phone
- Observe the date and time is in sync with the network-provided time
- Restart to recovery (TWRP)
- Observe that the time is incorrect, even after adjusting the time zone
- Create a backup in TWRP
- Observe that the datestamp of the newly created backup is off by years
