Update backend to new template

I forked the new backend, cloned it, manually replaced all of the files, and then pushed changes. Now I'm creating a merge request. Hopefully doing things manually doesn't create any problems. In the future we'll probably have to manually add changes as well. There is probably a way to do this with git, but I ran into fast forward problems so for now this is the solution.
