Stats and Souls lack meaning.
DEXTERITY:
-Only scales dagger attacks, smokebomb, and crystal spikes?
-Only upside of taking lynx is high attack speed for proccing the lightning set?
-Useless as an off-stat to non-lynxes.
STRENGTH:
-Scales more weapons than dex
-Scales more skills than dex
-Strength weapons go well with flurry due to high damage per hit.
-Useless as an off-stat to non-lynxes.
INTELLIGENCE:
-Only source of ranged weapon scaling
-Largest list of scale-able runes (including almost every ranged damage rune)
-Applies to both healing and damage
-Community consensus seems to be that Owl deals less damage than Bear. If it wasn't for this, Int would be the only viable stat in the game.
VITALITY:
-Is only ever an off-stat. Content is too easy to warrant focusing it, even in crushable, unless you're playing a 3-4 charge rune tank as the puller for the group.
LYNX:
-Dex scaling instead of something interesting/versatile
BEAR:
-Strength scaling instead of something interesting/versatile
OWL:
-Int scaling instead of something interesting/versatile
Souls shouldn't relate to stat scaling. Weapons and runes already have that (and are far too limited by it). With the current set of content, a much larger fraction of weapons/runes should scale with more than one stat, until there are more runes/weapons to work with.
In the current system, Flurry is probably the best example of a fun skill rune, since it can be utilized in conjunction with all weapon types, all 3 soul types, all 3 main stats, and also can be used to multicast. This makes it a versatile building block. All skills should have two or more uses, as a general rule. Charge is another cool skill since it 1. stuns target 2. dashes to target and 3. cancels your movement queue without any weird jittery lag that the escape key tends to induce. Because charge has those utility factors, I see it as viable even if you aren't building strength. It's niche, but it might warrant a slot. Every skill should feel like that, even if you don't have its appropriate stat(s).
