Don Froula noticed that as the batteries wear down, the ADC starts to
lose sensitivity towards the ground end of the resistor ladder. It might
be that one simple measure to take against this is to use 10-bit
resolution.  Some more tests are required to see if this really does
help.  He does recommend using 10-bits for decoding 16-keys.
