v4.x is worse than v3.x -- trying to explain why
First of all, I'm sure that great work was done to bring fresh new version to Aurora store to users. Thank you for your hard work.
But renewed version has some flaws that made me roll back to 3.x version. Not sure if written below is true for all users, so I'll explain how I use Aurora Store.
For me, Aurora Store is a non-Fdroid-apps updater in first place. About one time a week I open this app and check which apps got updates. I use app for any other purposes (e.g. search progs in-app or view app info from browser URL) relatively rare -- maybe one or two times a month.
So, the problems:
First thing I saw after update is that application's activity has changed, so launch entry named 'Aurora Store' has moved to another tab in launcher. This is bad because I've spent some time moving it to proper tab.
Then I've opened the app to see what changed, and whoa -- bumped at greeter screen. This is bad because I've already entered all preferences and credentials in previous version. The app that tells "Sorry I forgot who you are" after update is a bad practice.
After that I've struggled some time to get used to new design and noticed that there are almost no options compared to previous version. This is bad because options is that make app more customizable, that helps people to make handy everyday use of your app.
In particular, there are no 'Select default tab' option, so in my case (just open the app to check wether updates available) it adds a few additional clicks.
Also I have a few words about appearance. I really think the old theme was better:
Other parts of the app has similar design/theming flaws too, but I think it is not necessary to put everything here. Let me know if you found my review useful and you need similar comparison of other app screens.
Again, thank you for your hard work.
