git push: Entered source ref is ambiguous

After an update from a beta build... (I don't quite remember which one) I get "The entered source ref is ambiguous. You have to make it unique (e.g. by adding "refs/heads/" as a prefix for branches or "refs/tags/" for tags)!" when trying to git push.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Commit
2. Git push
3. Push

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect it to know I want to push my local head, why would I wish to push a tag??

What version of TortoiseGit and msysgit are you using? On
what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.7.12.1
git version 1.7.11.msysgit.1 (C:\Program Files (x86)\Git\bin)
