How to efficiently reflect changes to master in all branches?
I'm opening this issue just for discussion.
I just looped over all branches to install the new package python3-mpi4py. I did it by --cherry-pick. It was trying to get it through rebase first, but then I realized that it would probably hurt: it would have installed ccache in some branches, add .gitignore to others, .... each branch seems to be a special case. And rebasing seems difficult to revert...
I'm then wondering:
-
why are the branches so heterogeneous? Maybe rebasing would have been ok after all?
-
what is the most convenient way to propagate changes like simple addition of a library?
