Particle refinement method (PRM)

Hi,

I am simulating spiral pile penetration resistance, and with the help of @stranskyjan [1], I was able to create a model ground more efficiently. The model ground has a diameter of 300 mm and a height of 360 mm. The soil used has a D₅₀ of 0.169 mm.

When I try to generate the model ground using a PSD matching my experimental conditions, the simulation takes a very long time to complete. To address this, I plan to scale the particle sizes in a pattern similar to FEM approaches — using smaller scale factors near the pile and gradually increasing the scale factor farther from the pile — in order to reduce the computation time.

I can create an REV and replicate it in the model ground domain but with this I will get similar SF throughout. My aim is to replicate it in the arrangement shown in the attached figure. But I am not sure how to do that.

Thank you.

MWE for same SF throughtout the model is attached here: MWE.py
